QPD-Modul 2: Datenkompetenz und digitale Methoden
Digital research data and its management is one of the most challenging issues that scientists have to deal with during the research process. Its organisation, publication, archiving and re-use are becoming increasingly important in science in the digital age.
This workshop will cover the most important aspects of research data management:
- research data life cycle
- research data policies
- data management plan
- structuring of data
- documentation
- storage and backup
- long-term archiving
- access security
- publication of research data
- reuse of research data
- legal aspects
The units are accompanied by practical exercises to consolidate the newly acquired knowledge and apply it to your own use cases. Participants will be introduced to useful tools and platforms for working effectively with their data.

Participation: The event is an offer for members of the bidt Graduate Center for Doctoral Researchers. No prior knowledge or preparation is required.
Katarzyna Biernacka holds a degree in computer science from Humboldt University in Berlin. In her diploma thesis, she designed a 3D scanner based on Kinect. Her strong interest in digital tools and new forms of learning shaped her research interest. In the winter of 2015/2016, she joined Prof. Pinkwart’s research group at Humboldt University, where she is conducting research in the field of mobile information and communication technologies in teachung, using the example of Latin America. Since February 2019, she has been a research associate at the institute, conducting research in the area ‘Publication of Research Data – Research Integrity – Privacy’. In addition to her research, Katarzyna, as an advocate of open science, offers various workshops on this and related topics.
