Agentic AI for Practical Research

QPD-Modul 2: Datenkompetenz und Digitale Methoden (Vertiefung)

This course explores the emerging field of Agentic AI with a focus on the practical application of Large Language Models (LLMs) in scientific and engineering research. Students will gain hands-on experience using state-of-the-art LLMs to support and automate research tasks, from data preprocessing to generating custom software utilities. The course covers foundational concepts in LLM operation, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning, while also addressing critical aspects of evaluation, and ethical deployment.

Date: 24 September 2025

Time: 10-12am and 2-4pm

Workshop lead: Severin Kacianka, fortiss GmbH

Language: English

Prerequisites: Having worked with data of all sorts; also other
questions and problems that might be tackled by applying LLMs. A
background in computer science is not required but a basic technical
understanding and interest is helpful.

Participation: The workshop is an offer for members of the Graduate Center for Doctoral Students.
