Kurzbeschreibung des Promotionsvorhabens

The research project aims to explore how digital technologies have impacted the practices of documenting human rights violations in conflict contexts such as Syria. This investigation will examine the digital divide and the importance of digital access and literacy. It will evaluate the opportunities and limitations of user-generated content and remote sensing in documenting human rights abuses alongside digital infrastructure that helps or hinders documentation work. Moreover, the study seeks to understand the impact of digital technologies on the dynamics between local and international human rights groups, investigating trust, dependency, and knowledge production.
