Kurzbeschreibung des Promotionsvorhabens
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine promise to improve patient outcomes by increasing the timeliness and accuracy of clinical decisions. This is particularly relevant in the field of ophthalmology, where an increasing prevalence of eye diseases is met with workforce shortages. Psychological dynamics such as trust and decision-making play an important role in determining whether AI’s potential can be realized in ophthalmic practice. Using a mixed-methods approach, my PhD project explores psychological processes and key factors shaping human-AI interaction. The goal is to support an effective integration of AI-based Clinical Decision Support Systems into ophthalmic practice, benefitting clinicians and patients alike.
